How MakeMyLPA Works

You can create an LPA for yourself (you are the Donor) or on behalf of someone else — the Donor is always the person the LPA is for, and they will sign the forms themselves later.

1

Create a Free Account

Sign up with your email and name. No payment details required. Your progress is saved so you can come back any time.

2

Choose Your LPA Type

Select Property & Financial Affairs, Health & Welfare, or both. Most people choose both for complete protection.

3

Answer the Questions

We guide you through straightforward questions about the Donor, their attorneys, and their preferences. You complete the LPA one person at a time, and we explain everything as you go. Most people finish in 8–12 minutes.

4

Download Your Completed Forms

We generate the official Gov.uk LPA forms with all your information filled in, plus a personalised signing guide explaining exactly who signs what and when.

5

Sign in the Correct Order

The LPA must be signed in a specific order: the Donor first, then the Certificate Provider, then the Attorneys. Our signing guide walks you through each step.

6

Register with the OPG

Send your signed LPA to the Office of the Public Guardian with the registration fee (£82 per LPA). Until your LPA is registered, it has not come into effect and cannot be used.

How long does it take?

Completing the online questions typically takes 8–12 minutes. After signing, registration with the OPG typically takes 8–10 weeks.
